Haryana bundled out J&K for 262 runs in first innings and then enforced follow-on as J&K fell short of Haryana’s first inning total by 240 runs on the third day of Ranni trophy match at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack on Tuesday.
The whole J&K side got out for 262 runs. Only Pranav Gupta with resilient 94 and dependable Shubham Khajuria with 52 were able to offer some resistance to the Haryana bowlers. The next best score in J&K inning was of Punit Bisht who scored 32 and Amir Aziz remained unbeaten on 26. Rest of the batsmen that included, Ian Dev scored 13, Umair Nisar (0), Parvez Rasool (0), Owais Shah (3), Samiullah (16), Ram Dayal (7) and Rohit Sharma (0). For Haryana, SM Pahal took four wickets while as Y Chahal and S Chauhan took two wickets each.
Haryana in its first inning with the help of Paliwal’s 194 run knock had posted huge total of 502 runs. Haryana had option of batting again and enforcing follow-on. They could have gone with batting option and giving their bowlers a rest. However, Haryana wanted to seize the initiative and they enforced follow-on.
In second inning, J&K openers batted 19 remaining overs of the third day’s play without giving their wickets away. Shubham was batting on 14 and Umair Nissar on 19.
Haryana has already gained first inning lead points from the match and would hope to earn bonus points through an outright win.
